Community Gardens

We provide environmentally sound horticultural education to the public through garden plots and garden-based tours, activities, and materials.

Green Spring Children’s Garden

The Children’s Garden is located at Green Spring Gardens behind the Horticulture building. It includes 3 small demonstration gardens and a compost area. Master Gardeners use this garden to educate children and adults about our environment through interactive objects, plants, and signage.

Green Spring Edible Garden

The Edible Garden is located at Green Spring Gardens to the left of the Horticulture Building. Master Gardeners use this garden to educate children and adults about growing produce. In 2023, Master Gardeners donated over 2,350 pounds of fruits and vegetables to a local food bank.

Green Spring Tours and Activities

Master Gardeners lead garden tours at Green Spring year round. Learn more about the plant collections and history from knowledgeable guides. See Green Spring Tours.

School Gardens

School Gardens are located at participating Fairfax County Public Schools. Master Gardeners work with these schools upon request to provide guidance, hands-on demonstrations, and resources to help them create, restore and maintain outdoor learning spaces that support the development of environmental stewardship.

Wellness Circle Healing Gardens

The Wellness Circle Healing Gardens were created for Horticulture Therapy at a Crisis Care Center in the heart of Fairfax County. Master Gardeners designed, built, and maintain the gardens with the clients learning and working in the garden with us.

Wolf Trap Woodland Garden

The Woodland Garden is located at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Master Gardeners work with Park staff on garden design and maintenance and offer tours and educational activities.
